Photo Rejuvenation

Photo Rejuvenation is a series of intense pulsed light treatments that are effective for improving the appearance of the face, neck, chest, and hands. As we grow older, visible signs of sun damage, time, and lifestyle choices begin to appear in our complexions. These signs may include Rosacea, freckles, wrinkles, broken capillaries, age spots, blotchy skin, redness, enlarged pore size, and/or uneven pigmentation. Photo Rejuvenation is the only procedure that can treat many of these conditions simultaneously. Dramatic improvements are accomplished with minimal discomfort and little or no "downtime," meaning you can resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does The Treatment Work?

An intense light is applied in a series of gentle pulses over the area to be treated. The light penetrates the skin and is absorbed within the problem area without additional damage to the skin. The heat of the light causes damage to the vessel or lesion, and the body reacts by beginning the natural process of healing itself; for example, freckles will darken and then flake off or be absorbed by the skin. These treatments are maximized by supporting a healthy daily skin regime. This includes photoprotection such as topical antioxodants and a broad spectrum sun screen.

What Is Treatment Like? Does It Hurt?

The area to be treated is cleansed and a cool gel is applied. The feeling as the pulses of light are delivered is similar to the snap of a rubber band. After treatment, the gel is removed, the skin is cleansed again, and a sunscreen is applied. Although pain is minimal, topical anesthesia or a cool compress can be used for maximum comfort. Treatments will vary from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Generally, a series of 3 to 5 treatments are recommended for best results, and follow-up treatments may be desired to maintain results. Gianna Skin & Laser provides a free customized consultation to all clients for any procedure. During that time, we review your client profile with you, discuss how you would like to improve the look of your skin, and answer any questions. We will then evaluate you, and will provide a customized plan designed to determine the best way for you to achieve your goals.

Are There Any Side Effects To Photo Rejuvenation?

Side effects are not common. Immediately after treatment, the skin may appear flushed and capillaries may seem more visible; this can last from a few minutes to several hours after treatments. Brown and pigmented spots will turn slightly darker, and this temporary darkness will disappear as the spots come off. There are very rare complications that can be discussed with your physician.

How Much Improvement Can I Expect?

You can expect to see a gradual decrease in flushing, pore size, broken capillaries, and irregular pigmentation. Each treatment will cause your skin to feel smoother and appear to have a more even tone. There is usually a temporary increase in the condition as it rises to the surface then dissipates to an overall youthful, healthy look.
